A wonderfully stylised Art Deco sculpture depicting a seated female figure and deer - likely a playful take on Diana, goddess of the hunt. Rather than classical robes, this Diana wears a chic 1920s-style bathing costume, her hair curled and cropped in fashionable waves. She holds a draped cloth between herself and the doe, both figures locked in a gentle tug-of-war. The whole piece captures a rare balance between classical serenity and modern vitality.
Cast in hollow metal - likely spelter - with a finely textured grey finish, the sculpture sits on a black powder-coated base, internally weighted with plaster. A charmingly decorative object - full of period character and a real talking point for a sideboard, console or shelf.
Condition Report
In excellent antique condition. A few tiny edge chips to the rear corners of the base, all consistent with age and handling, and contributing to its timeworn charm. No losses or repairs noted to the figures. Numbered "675" to the rear plinth.
