Regency/Early Victorian Rosewood Folding Tea Table
This beautiful rosewood tea table is another for the hall of fame. It is absolutely stunning, and in original condition. I've not had to do anything to this other than a very light wax and buff. The table features a folding, rotating book-matched rosewood veneer top over a hidden section for storing games, decks of cards etc. The table is supported on an intricate scroll carved apron on a rosewood pedestal base with ornate carvings all the way down to the feet, which are supported on brass castors. The jury is still out on the exact age, but it's either Regency or very early Victorian, making it 170 - 200 years old... And in my opinion, it has only improved with age. Overall, the table is in excellent condition. The inner table has a minor split along the veneer, but this doesn't stand out and the top has a few minor surface marks commensurate with its age. One of the carvings on the feet has lightened a little, as seen in the pictures. The side of the top has also lost a very small piece of veneer by the hinge, but this is bearly noticeable. The whole table has a patina you would expect with a piece of furniture of this age.
