Early 18th Century Oak And Walnut Chest Of Drawers

Early 18th Century Oak And Walnut Chest Of Drawers

What can I say about this? For a start, at 300 years old, maybe a little older, it is the oldest chest of drawers I've ever had the pleasure of owning.

It is a stunning, honest, early 17th century chest of two over three walnut crossbanded drawers with oak veneered carcass and faux bamboo mouldings around the drawers.

Over the years this chest has had a number of repairs and modifications. The original bun feet have been replaced with the bracket feet you see here. The drawers have had new handles and escutcheons. The top, sides and feet have all had a number of repairs, and I wouldn't have it any other way!

At 300 years old, it is in excellent condition. There is evidence of historic wood worm to the feet and back which I have treated for peace of mind. Just an excellent, solid, usable antique chest of drawers that I'm sure will still be knocking about for the next 300 years. That's just what we love about antique furniture - the quality craftsmanship and longevity is surpassed by no modern equivalents!
