Early Victorian Large Mahogany Chest Of Drawers
This is a real statement piece, a gorgeous Early Victorian substantial chest of drawers. It features two short drawers of three graduated long drawers. Each of the drawers has a lock and gorgeous brass handles. Once upon a time this chest had bun feet and large turned wooden knob handles, but the Victorians loved upcycling as much as we do, and at some point in items early life it has had these replacement handles and bracket feet. This chest is in very good condition, especially considering it is approx 180 years old. It does show its history through its minor scrapes and scratches, but nothing that stands out and all commensurate with its age. Both of the sides are constructed with two planks, and on both sides, this joint has separated slightly, but again, this doesn't stand out at all, and I imagine these have been separated for some time. I've tried to capture as much of this as possible in the pictures. All of the drawers have locks, however, the bottom drawer has had a replacement at some point. The key for this is missing.
