17th-18th Century Solid Oak Chip-Carved Oak Yorkshire Chairs With Panelled Seat
A truly gorgeous 17th - 18th century example of a solid oak Derbyshire/Yorkshire chair with excellent crisp chip carving to the back rails mimicking the mustached face of Charles I when he was executed - see mortuary chair. Finished with acorn shaped finials. The chair has an ever so slight rake to the back, which I would expect to be from years of use rather than intentional - the other Yorkshire chair I currently have available has an intentional rake so check this out for for comparison.
I believe the chair to be 17th-18th Century with a few minor historic repairs. Altogether in excellent solid usable condition with the wear and marks to be expected with a chair of this age.
