William IV Victorian Rosewood Davenport
This is an absolutely stunning Davenport full of the character you'd expect from a quality piece of rosewood furniture. It features 5 beautifully made drawers on the side along with a small swivel drawer that would have been used to hold an ink well. Gorgeous classical pillars rise up from the feet to support the top, finished with corinthian style acanthus leaves on the capital. I initially believed it to be William IV based on the carved capitals on the pillars. On closer inspection, the top lock is marked VR - Victoria Regina - so it is early Victorian. The fall is finished with a tooled green skiver that is still in excellent condition framed with some beautiful book matched rosewood. Under the fall we have storage space for stationary items and two small drawers - and two faux drawer fronts hiding the ink drawer. All supported on solid brass castors. Excellent condition, it does have a very small piece of veneer missing from one of the feet, a few very minor marks here and there and one of the drawer knobs has a small piece missing. The whole piece has had a no expense spared restoration at some point and is in absolutely stunning conditions.
