Solid Oak Joint "Coffin" Stool Circa. 18thc

Solid Oak Joint "Coffin" Stool Circa. 18thc

A bit of a rare find. A Solid Oak joint or Coffin Stool Circa. 18thC featuring slightly splayed legs with traditional pinned mortise and tenon joins at the frieze and stretches. The frieze is lightly carved. There is the letter 'P' stamped into one frieze.

In good usable condition considering the age of this piece. There has been some minor worm damage to the legs, one of which has been repaired not so well - see photos. I would guess that the top isn't original either since it is a jointed piece of oak that has been nailed down, but I would say this happened long ago. Although, a great piece of antique furniture history.
