A gorgeous 18th-century solid oak cupboard on chest, offering both presence and practicality. As expected, it breaks down into two sections for easier transport. The upper section features a fixed cornice, two panelled arched doors - complete with a working lock and key - above two short drawers. The lower section houses a further two short drawers over two long drawers, all fitted with brass handles, and stands proudly on shaped bracket feet.
Condition Report
Altogether in excellent condition with wear commensurate with its age. The handles have been replaced at some point - originally, these would have been turned knobs, as seen from the cutouts in the existing backplates. The bracket feet have undergone numerous repairs over the years, and while there is evidence of historic worm presence, this has long since gone, and the wood remains stable. The drawer runners still have plenty of life in them. A solid, practical, and characterful 18th-century piece, with all the wear and charm you’d expect from something of this age.
