A fine jointed oak gate leg table from the 18th century, with beautifully turned legs, a single fall and a single drawer. The proportions are pleasing, and the craftsmanship evident in the details. While likely once a kitchen workhorse, this table now feels more suited to life as a console table in a hallway or sitting room. A piece with centuries of service now ready to be admired for its form and history.
Condition Report
The table shows its age with a few honest marks: the top is a later replacement, and the fall is missing part of its extension. There is some slight movement in the frame, historic worm evidence to the feet, and a couple of old repairs. None of this affects its integrity. It remains solid and full of character. The turned legs are particularly appealing and a strong reminder of the quality of 18th-century joinery.
