A superbly carved giltwood standard lamp, dating to the late 19th or early 20th century. The circular base is richly ornamented with egg-and-dart carving, supported on three well-modelled lion paw feet. Rising from a gadrooned vase base, the stem spirals upward through a cascade of acanthus leaves and tulip forms, culminating in a carved gadrooned capital supporting the bulb holder. A striking and sculptural piece with undeniable presence.
Condition Report
Excellent condition overall, with a couple of minor sympathetic repairs to the giltwork. Supplied PAT tested and ready to use. The pictured lampshade is included on request, though it may be undersized for such a grand base - happy to include or remove as preferred.
