A particularly fine George III mahogany washstand, showcasing some of the most stunning Cuban flame mahogany you’ll come across. The twin fold-over top opens to reveal a central recess for a wash bowl, flanked by two hinged trays. A pull-up swing mirror sits towards the back, held in place by a beautifully crafted mechanism, and the foxing on the mirror is utterly charming.
Below, a single cupboard and drawer provide storage, with a lower tier designed to hold a water jug. Carry handles on either side allow for easy movement, and the proportions make this a superbly versatile piece - perhaps a very elegant bedside cabinet.
Condition Report
In excellent solid antique condition. There are a couple of minor historic repairs to the veneer on the top. The mirror is heavily foxed - just as we like it. Marks and wear are commensurate with age.
