A striking pair of mid-20th-century Indian brass trays, hand-beaten in the Benares style with decorative scenes featuring dogs and floral motifs. Each tray rests on an ebonised, plate-style wooden stand.
These came from a well-travelled Indian family who emigrated first to Kenya, then to the UK some 40 years ago — and they’ve clearly been well cared for along the way.
Condition Report
Both trays are in excellent vintage condition with a few minor, characterful dents. Traces of old Brasso remain in the chased detail — easily removed if desired, though they add a pleasing, lived-in texture. One wooden stand has an old, solid repair.
The photographs form part of the condition report, so please review them carefully. Further images or a video viewing can be provided on request. Viewings are welcome at our Southampton unit, strictly by appointment.
