A vivid vintage oil on canvas portrait depicting Giovanna degli Albizzi Tornabuoni, painted after the celebrated Renaissance portrait by Domenico Ghirlandaio. The work closely follows the iconic Florentine composition and is notably close to the scale of the original.
Ghirlandaio’s portrait of Giovanna, painted circa 1489–1490, is one of the most recognisable female portraits of the Italian Renaissance and is held in the Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza, Madrid. This later interpretation captures the formal restraint and profile elegance that made the original so influential.
