A stunning example of 18th-century craftsmanship, this William and Mary chest features two long drawers, resting elegantly on four inverted cup legs. The legs are unified by a finely crossbanded walnut stretcher, leading down to classic bun feet that enhance its robust yet graceful presence.
The chest's top and drawer fronts are beautifully crossbanded in walnut, adding depth and richness to the piece. This combination of practicality and intricate design makes it not only a functional storage solution but also a charming addition to any period or contemporary interior.
Condition Report
The chest is in excellent solid, usable condition. There are a number of historic repairs, including one to the top crossbanding, and a patch of veneer on the left side of the chest. All well done, and doesn't stand out. There are a few very minor scratches to the finish of the top. Overall, in excellent condition.
